Jewel Lake Park Neighborhood Fix-It

Park Fix-It Day: July 25, 2015

Jewel Lake Park is a 40.26 acre community use park with a covered picnic shelter, softball field, volleyball sand lot, playground equipment, picnic tables, swimming area, beach, paved parking, restrooms, bike trail access and non-motorized small craft area. In the summer of 2015 the park received a improvements including adding sand to beach picnic areas, vegetation thinning around the park, planting at the entry flower bed, painting bollards, and weeding existing flower beds. The park also received an installation of the new ping pong table neighbors selected. The Anchorage Fire Department was generously volunteered their time to improve Jewel Lake Park.  Funding for the park fix- it came from a $100,000 grant from the State Legislator.

• Improved drainage around play area, picnic shelter and rain garden
• New paved path to restroom facility for improved maintenance access
• New BBQ Grill
• New fully ADA-accessible concrete ping-pong table and picnic bench
• Improved safety by increasing visibility into park with vegetation removal around parking lots
• Repaired stone facade on existing planting beds
• Repaired picnic shelter
• Clean beach area
