Updates

84 volunteers participated in the Arctic Benson Fix-It Day on July 27, 2013 in support of the new, fenced dog park at Arctic Benson. Neighbor Karen Dencham and volunteers plan to work with Parks & Recreation planners in Winter 2014 to finalize further improvement plans for Challenge Grant funds for Summer 2014, including updating the playground equipment and improving accessible pathways into the park.

Park History

This property was offered for sale in 1977 for a park site, and in April 1981 the Municipality of Anchorage purchased the land. The owners sold the property at below the appraisal value, which gave the Parks & Recreation Department funding to develop it. This park was the location for the kick-off party held for the City of Lights program in 1996. They continue to light this park every fall.
