In 1971 five hundred acres were opened up for snow machine use, the lakes were used for ice skating, and the area was patrolled by the Anchorage Snowmobile Patrol. During the early 1980’s this park suffered significant abuse by mud boggers. In 1987 a master plan was developed to try and restore the wetlands. The park was closed to motorized vehicles in the summer of 1987 by the mayor to preserve it from further damage. Connors Lake Park is currently managed by the city for the state and is listed as preservation wetlands.
During the summer of 2013, a Challenge Grant was awarded to a young eagle scout to install a new informational kiosk at Connors Bog.
