PARK HISTORY

This park was dedicated in February 2003 after the Alaska Native Center requested that the Municipality name something in honor of Elizabeth and Roy Peratrovich. The Peratrovichs were a Tlingit couple who advocated for equal rights for native Alaskans including the anti discrimination law passed in 1945. Forty years after the bill passed, the governor signed a new bill to make February 16th Elizabeth Peratrovich day.

In 2006, a Challenge Grant was awarded to the Friend of Peratrovich Park to install a sculpture titled Flight of the Raven.

Reservations: contact the Anchorage Parks and Recreation Department at 343-4355. The Anchorage Park Foundation is not a department of the Municipality of Anchorage, and cannot process reservations!
