What's New

Woodland Park is a target neighborhood park for 2010! The APF and the Parks & Recreation Department partner with community councils and parks volunteers to accomplish neighborhood park fix-its using volunteer and professional labor to accomplish park projects that are immediate, doable, supported, needed, and produced visible results.

In summer 2010, parks volunteers completed the "fix-its" in Woodland Park. Volunteers, staff and contractors planted flowers and shrubs, removed graffiti and refurbished park amenities. Contractors are currently in the process of installing the new Thelma Buchholdt Memorial Picnic Pavilion, with funding from the Alaska State Legislature and an Anchorage Park Foundation Challenge Grant, in partnership with the Filipino American Society of Anchorage.

Thanks to the Government Hill Community Council parks committee for their involvement in prioritizing repairs and recruiting volunteers! For photos of these improvements and many others, please visit the Anchorage Park Foundation Facebook page (no account needed).

The APF is proud to fund neighborhood park fix-its with support from the Rasmuson Foundation & the Alaska State Legislature.
