YEP Partners with the Student Conservation Association!

Anchorage Park Foundations’ Youth Employment in Parks (YEP) & the Alaska Region of the Student Conservation Association (SCA) are partnering to create a 10-week YEP alumni-only crew for summer 2013.  This new program is a successful partnership between a local and a national youth conservation organizations working together with municipal and federal land agencies to create an innovative program.

The national conservation movement recognizes that pathway, or a ‘continuum’, of opportunities is important for the future of our public lands.

The Continuum:

Crew member (CM) on YEP crew…

…SCA alumni CM /YEP Senior CM…

…YEP Crew Leader (CL)…

…SCA Apprentice CL…

…SCA National Conservation Crew Leader…

…Conservation community professionals/leaders…

YEP & SCA are creating a program that will foster growth in our youth, especially among the ‘majority minority population’.  We seek a diverse constituency of members that represent our population here in Alaska and that want to be future conservation and community leaders.
