SUMMARY:House Party Fundraiser for a Bike Pump Track
DESCRIPTION:Help raise $10\,000 for a new kids’ bike pump track at Valley of the Moon Park. We have already raised $10\,000! \nA bike pump track is a circular/oval shaped track of compacted dirt with rollers. For most kids\, it’s the place they learn to mountain bike. They are extremely popular. The proposed Valley of the Moon track will be similar to the one at Hilltop Ski and Bike Park. \nAnchorage Parks and Recreation Department has installed pump tracks at Chanshtnu Muldoon Park and South Anchorage Sports Park\, and local non-profits have built pump tracks at Mirror Lake and Hilltop Ski Area. The South Addition and North Star Community Councils have endorsed building a pump track at Valley of the Moon\, and it is consistent with the Parks master plan. \nAll contributions will be gratefully accepted and are tax deductible. \nWhen funds are available\, Anchorage Parks and Recreation will authorize a contractor to build the pump track in summer 2026. Anchorage Park Foundation is the fiscal sponsor for this community project led by Zack Fields and South Addition and Valley of the Moon neighbors.

SUMMARY:Goose Lake Park Survey - share your ideas!
DESCRIPTION: \n\nA popular destination since the 1950s\, Goose Lake is centrally located at Northern Lights Boulevard and UAA Drive. The park includes a sandy beach\, playgrounds\, trails\, a basketball court\, and a picnic pavilion. It also contains wetland and upland forests\, native plants\, and wildlife habitat. \nLove this park? Share your ideas by filling out the survey. It closes February 20. Find the survey here: https://www.muni.org/Departments/parks/Pages/GooseLakeMasterPlan.aspx \nPark users can enjoy a groomed Nordic ski loop on the lake when conditions allow in winter\, and get access to winter-only bike and ski trails at APU. \nAnchorage Park Foundation recently curated a 3 mile walking loop that can be done year round – with grooming provided by Anchorage Parks and Recreation and UAA. It’s called the Goose Loop. A fun place to start is at Goose Lake Park and trails\, where it then weaves throughout the UMED district – through the UAA Campus\, Alaska Airlines Center\, the UAA Dorms\, Providence\, and back around to UAA Drive and to Goose Lake Park. It’s a fun way to learn the UMED neighborhood. You also have access to the Chester Creek Trail that will take you downtown or continue around the city on the Moose Loop trails. \nGoose Loop Map \nhttps://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1pQ87xHf8kHoI5DgHvEeeFHnAOoEsTaI&ll=61.18857265031065%2C-149.8178174&z=14 \nAfter the 2018 earthquake\, the Municipality determined that the lakeside facility – home to the much-loved paddleboat cafe\,  was unsafe for public use. A new Master Plan will ask the community what would make this park great for future generations and how we should prioritize park improvements. \n  \nAnchorage Park Foundation dreams of a new facility that could have a restaurant or coffee shop and be a place you could rent for birthday parties and weddings and enjoy the gorgeous view. \n  \n  \n
