ANC Design Week Fairview Community Tour

February 25 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Anchorage Design Week and its community partners AARP and the Anchorage Park Foundation invite you to a Walking Tour of Fairview to learn about the amazing people and places that exist in the East Downtown area.

During the tour the project group will welcome participants to share perspectives and ideas as part of an evaluation of the pedestrian experience highlighting existing and proposed infrastructure, including opportunities and challenges other communities have navigated successfully and considerations of local impacts by the proposed Seward Highway Connection by Alaska Department of Transportation (AKDOT).

The event will include light refreshments and is intended to connect non-motorized commuter priorities to physical spaces as part of an ongoing research and design-oriented component of Anchorage Design Week and the Reconnecting Fairview project. Input and ideations will be considered for responses as part of the Seward to Glenn Connection Planning Environmental Linkages (PEL) project currently in-process. The PEL is the official AK DOT process that helps to build a public vision and revise proposed alternatives to best reconnect the neighborhood while serving as functional infrastructure.

This event is made possible with support by NeighborWorks Alaska and the Anchorage Museum in collaboration with AARP, the Anchorage Park Foundation, the Fairview Community Council, Greater Friendship Baptist Church, and the Alaska Chapter ASLA.

Participant Registration Cost: FREE

This event includes 1.0 hours of content applicable for use as Professional Development Hours (PDH) for State of Alaska AELS License Professionals. Certificate of attendance can be issued by request following the event.
