Neighbors have identified a number of areas in which Springer Park needs improvement. The picnic tables need repainting and the wooden trash can containers are in disrepair. The lines demarcating the basketball court have worn off and the volleyball pits are run down. Graffiti covers the dilapidated play equipment, and the surfacing surrounding the play equipment is in poor condition. In the summer of 2015, the Anchorage Park Foundation and Parks & Recreation Department completed improvements in Springer Park with the help of community volunteers and the input of a neighborhood park committee. Funding for the improvements came from a $50,000 State of Alaska Grant and privately raised funds.
