The nominations are in, and though it was a tough call, Goose Lake Park, Scenic Park, and Russian Jack Springs Park are the three park candidates for 2025! Voting on which park will be crowned the 2025 Park of the Year will take place in November 2024, and we encourage everyone to cast their vote and share why the park is deserving on social media.
The park with the most votes will be featured in original artwork by Alaskan artist Valisa Higman, and through out the year we’ll deep dive into the history and stories of the park.

Top Nomination for Each Park
Goose Lake
“Beautiful, safe, multipurpose, serves UAA, APU, Providence, wildlife, crossroad trail system, natural oasis in busy UMED midtown area.”
Scenic Park
“The little revamp of the Park has not only brought the surrounding community together to utilize the nee playground and newly resurfaced pickleball/tennis courts, it’s also attracted other members throughout the Anchorage bowl. The only thing missing from this little hidden gem is a restroom. Besides that, it’s perfect and should be voted Park of the YEAR 2025!”
Russian Jack Springs Park
“So many new trails and improvements were put in during 2024! The new single-track bike trails on the north side and the new bridge and new pavement done on the most southern parts (also in 2023). Russian Jack has so many activities to offer besides walking, running, and biking. There’s golfing, baseball fields, a skate park, indoor activities at the greenhouse and the chalet, and great sledding and skiing in the winter.”
