Weidner Cares Service Day: July 28, 2015
Park Fix-It Day: August 15, 2015
In 2015 Pop Carr Park was part of two major improvement events. In July Weidner Apartments Homes had their annual Weidner Cares Service Project Day were nearly 200 employees dedicated an entire day to improving the park. Volunteers cleared brush around the park to make is visible from the road. In August, Pop Carr was part of a Neighborhood Park Fix-It were finishing improvements include graffiti removal and repainting, re-seeding of disturbed landscape and vegetation thinning around the entrances of the park to improve positive park use, safety, and visibility were completed. Funding for Pop Carr Park and this Neighborhood Park Fix-It comes from a passionate community council, volunteer workers, $50,000 of private funding from the Carr Foundation, $40,000 of the Clean and Green grant from the Rasmuson Foundation, $150,000 from the Municipality of Anchorage, and a $210,000 grant from the Alaska State Legislature.
